About The Florida Circuit-Civil Mediator Society
The Florida Circuit-Civil Mediators Society is a statewide association whose membership consists of mediators and arbitrators distinguished by their hands-on experience in the field of conflict resolution, and by their commitment to methods of alternative dispute resolution.

Membership is limited to certified Circuit-Civil mediators who have proven experience in the resolution of commercial & civil disputes, and who have been recognized for their accomplishments through a peer-nomination and attorney client review process.

There is clear demand from attorneys, insurance adjusters, individual parties, etc. to know more specific information about a given mediator: their experience, qualifications & certifications, language skills, dispute areas in which they have previously mediated, and so on. Our site allows the visitor to find such professionals quickly and easily, thereby further promoting the practices of Florida's premier civil mediators.

There is also the common difficulty of settling upon a mutually agreed date and time for a mediation.
With this in mind, we created the FCCMS website to serve as a daily aid to trial attorneys, law firms and schedulers. Since 2005, FloridaMediators.org has become a 'one-stop shop' for those that regularly require a mediator, allowing them to instantly view the availability of preferred professionals and expedite the scheduling process.

Our website now regularly welcomes between 1000-1200 unique visitors each week day, making it one of the most visited websites in the Florida legal sector.

Membership:
Membership in the Society is by invitation only. Membership is limited to established mediators or arbitrators, each of whom is confirmed to have met our nomination and experience requirements, and to have established a solid reputation in their respective field.

Formal Eligibility Criteria:

  • Only Circuit-Civil certified attorney mediators based in the state of Florida are considered eligible.
  • An initial nomination is generally required from an existing member of the roster; else our Advisory Committee will be consulted on the inclusion of any new applicant.
  • All Members are professional neutrals, in civil mediation/arbitration practice for a minimum of 3 years,
and must declare that a minimum of 25% of their professional efforts are dedicated to ADR practice.
  • Neutrals must have privately mediated/arbitrated at least 100 civil disputes, excluding pro bono,
court appointed cases, and receive remuneration for mediation/arbitration work at least 60 days annually.
  • 4 attorney client references required on application (attorneys for whom neutral has mediated/arbitrated civil disputes in the preceding 3 months, excluding pro bono cases). Each will be contacted
and questioned as to applicant's ADR expertise, approach and professionalism.

All nominees must provide attorney references (as described above) before being confirmed into the Society.
The final decision to approve/decline membership rests with Darren Lee, Exec. Director for the roster.

2009-2010 Advisory Committee
The Society's Advisory Committee is an appointed committee of fulltime mediators who have been instrumental
in helping to identify, and nominate, those mediators of repute across Florida. They have also given advice as to suitable membership criteria, and suggestions/improvements that have led to the current version of this, the FloridaMediators.org website. We are grateful to the following Committee Members:

2009-2010 Society Member Fees : $720 annually / $60 per month
(Preferred payment method is a monthly charge to members' credit card, or annual card payment of $600)
Member fee includes participation in the Society's Bar News Directory, published 5 times per year in FL Bar News, the most widely read legal publication in Florida. Please see our Bar News Campaign page for more details. Members are committed to a minimum of one year membership after induction, and membership dues (annual or monthly) are billed automatically through the association's online billing system.

From 2010 onwards, all FCCMS members are also recognized as members of our national association, the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals, the website for which will be launching in March 2010.
