Biographical

As a Certified Circuit Court Mediator, Ms. Schwartz concentrates on resolving employment litigation matters. She is also a Certified Appellate Mediator for the Fifth District Court of Appeal. She has continued to attend and conduct seminars on alternative dispute resolution. Ms. Schwartz mediates litigation pending in the United States District Courts and Florida State Courts. She also conducts pre-suit mediation. Additionally, Ms. Schwartz was selected by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the United States Postal Service to mediate employment matters for these agencies. Ms. Schwartz is a Certified Arbitrator and has served as an instructor for the Supreme Court of Florida Dispute Resolution Center, Arbitration Certification Training and the Florida Bar.

Ms. Schwartz is admitted to practice law in state and federal courts in Florida and in Maryland, and before the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh and Eleventh Circuits. She has been selected by her peers for inclusion in the Law and Leading Attorneys publication as a Leading American Attorney in the areas of Employment Law and Alternative Dispute Resolution. She has also been selected for membership in Foxington's Who's Who. In 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006, the firm was selected as The Orlando Sentinel's Top 100 Companies for Working Families. In 2002, Ms. Schwartz was selected as Small Business Person of the Year by the Seminole County Lake Mary Chamber of Commerce. In 2004, 2005 and 2006, Ms. Schwartz was named "Best Of The Bar" (Top 5%) by The Orlando Business Journal and one of Florida's Legal Elite (Top 1.6%) by Florida Trend magazine. In 2005, Ms. Schwartz was named one of the "Best Lawyers in Central Florida" by Orlando Magazine. In 2006, she was named as one of Florida's "Super Lawyers" and one of the "Best Lawyers in America."

Education

Jill S. Schwartz graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Rutgers University and received her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Maryland School of Law. After completing a Judicial Clerkship in Maryland, Ms. Schwartz was hired by the Special Litigation Division of the United States Department of Labor in Washington, D.C. Ms. Schwartz has received the highest rating, AV, and is listed in the Martindale-Hubbell National Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers.


Memberships & Affiliations

In 2004, Ms. Schwartz was appointed by Governor Jeb Bush to a four-year term on the Judicial Nominating Commission of the Fifth District Court of Appeal, and currently serves as its Chair. In December, 2004, Ms. Schwartz was appointed to serve on the Merit Selection Panel to reconsider the appointment of U.S. Magistrate Judge Karla R. Spaulding. Ms. Schwartz is currently serving a three-year term (2004-2007) on the Florida Bar Labor and Employment Law Section Executive Council. In 2006, she was elected Secretary/Treasurer of the Florida Bar Labor & Employment Section. A member of the Orlando Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, in 2006, Ms. Schwartz was elected as First Vice President/President-Elect. Since 1995, Ms. Schwartz has been a member of the Florida Chapter of the National Employment Lawyer's Association, serving as Vice President (1998-1999) and President (2000-2001). Ms. Schwartz previously served as Chair (2000-2001) and Vice Chair (1999-2000) of the Orange County Bar Association's Labor and Employment Committee. She is currently a member of the First Central Florida American Inn of Court and the Voile A. Williams, Jr., American Inns of Court.

Ms. Schwartz also serves as a Vice-Chair for the Florida Bar Foundation Life Fellows Program. In 2000, Ms. Schwartz was appointed to serve a two year term on the Orange County Bar Foundation, Inc. and was appointed by the Board of Governors of the Florida Bar to a three-year term on the Ninth Judicial Circuit Grievance Committee, which was completed in 1998. Since 1996, Ms. Schwartz has volunteered to serve as a Guardian Ad Litem representing the rights of abused and neglected children in the judicial process. Ms. Schwartz currently serves on the Advisory Board of Boys and Girls Town USA and the Board of Directors of Hospice of the Comforter.
