Biographical Notes:
 Prior to joining private practice, for 23 years Karl M. Scheuerman served as in-house attorney for the Dept Business and Professional Regulation, Division of Florida Land Sales, Condominiums, and Mobile Homes, where he was in charge of the condominium arbitration and mediation programs from 1991-2006 as well as the Division's HOA mediation and arbitration programs from 2004-2006. In addition, while at the agency, Mr. Scheuerman, was involved with rulemaking, statutory revision and legislative affairs, appeals, and enforcement actions. He contributed to the major re-writes of the condominium and homeowners' association statutes and rules. He is published regularly in this area, is a regular lecturer at continuing eduction events, assists in presenting a class in condominium law at the Florida State College of Law, and is a contributing author and editor for the Florida Condominium and Homeowners; Association Law and Practice (The Florida Bar Second Edition, CLE 2007). He is also a City of Tallahassee Code Enforcement Magistrate (2010-2013). Additionally, he is certified as program arbitrator by the Florida Bar to arbitrate disputes involving fee disputes and grievances between clients and attorneys. Additionally, he has been certified in the Second Circuit to mediate residential foreclosure disputes filed in court.

RATES & PAYMENT INFORMATION |
Rates: Mediations- $225 per hour to be split between the parties (2 party dispute); two hour minimum fee; Arbitrations $250 per hour. No charge for travel if travel time is 30 minutes or less; otherwise, the rate for travel time is $100 per hour. In the absence of an agreement to the contrary with the mediator/arbitrator in advance of the scheduling of a proceeding, the attorney for each party will be deemed responsible for all fees and costs. A charge equal to one-half hour will be assessed to allow the mediator to review each party's written statement of position and supporting documents. Foreclosure mediation fee is $250 per hour.

Payment: For mediation proceedings, the parties are expected to pay at the conclusion of the mediation session. For arbitration proceedings, the parties will be asked to prepay 2 hours in advance, and the remaining sum will be billed at the conclusion of the proceeding.

Cancellation Policy: There will be no cancellation fee if the parties cancel at least two full days in advance of the scheduled proceeding, otherwise there will be a 2 hour cancellation fee.
