Biographical Notes:
Reconginized by Florida Trend as a 2009 Legal Elite in Arbitration and Mediation, Former Justice Kenneth B. Bell maintains an active ADR practice. He also leads the firm's appelllate/trial support group. He is also active in business and real estate litigation. The breadth of his legal experience is unique and helpful to the ADR process.
Ken was appointed to the Florida Supreme Court in 2002. As a justice, he authored numerous significant opinions on a wide variety of issues. His service on Florida's Supreme Court was best summarized by Governor Charlie Christ when he accepted Justice Bell's resignation in the Fall of 2008:
"Your contributions to Florida law and the judicial system will stand for many years to come. You never wavered in following the text of our Constitution and statutes, and by doing so you set an example of judicial restraint for jurists everywhere. As a man of humility and deep faith in God, you have served as a role model of personal and professional integrity on the bench."
Prior to his service on the Supreme Court, Ken was a circuit judge in Florida's First Judicial Circuit. Indeed, in 1991, he became the youngest circuit judge in the history of the First Circuit. In his twelve years on the circuit court bench, Judge Bell handled more than 27,500 cases as a general jurisdiction judge and was actively involved in improving the judicial system.
Preceding his elevation to the judiciary, Mr. Bell was a successful private practitioner in the Pensacola area as its first Board Certified Real Estate Attorney.
