Biographical
Laurie Riemer has dedicated herself full time to providing dispute resolution services since 1990. She has extensive experience in mediating and arbitrating thousands of diverse cases, including complex, multiparty tort and commercial litigation disputes. She was appointed by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Florida to serve on the Supreme Court Committee on Mediation and Arbitration Training (1993-2001). Laurie was also appointed in 1999-2001 as Chair-person of the Mediation Committee of the Dade County Bar Association.
She has had advanced ADR training from the Harvard Law School Negotiation Project (1995), the Collins Center for Public Policy and the United States Postal Service.
Laurie's mediation strategies are cost effective, efficient, and result in early resolutions which avoid expensive litigation costs and the stress of trials. She has been recognized by her peers as a preeminent mediator with her AV rating in Martindale-Hubbell and her selection as a Top Mediator in Florida Trends Florida Legal Elite, and as a Top Rated Lawyer in The Miami Herald, and the Daily Business Review, and as on of the Top 25 Alternative Dispute Resolution Firms by the South Florida Business Journal.
Laurie Riemer was appointed as a Special Master in Shareholders derivative suit and has served as an umpire in insurance coverage disputes and also in several blasting/mining and mold cases. She served as an arbitrator in a class action suit involving 2000 plaintiffs and also in employment, real estate and condominium disputes. She serves as a U.S. District Court Class Action Neutral for The Collins Center for Public Policy. She was selected by the CPR Institute for Dispute Resolution to serve on their Panel of Distinguished Neutrals and also by the United States Postal Services as a mediator in their REDRESS program. She served as a moderator for a Women's Forum of The Young Presidents' Organization.
From 1982 through 1990, she was a civil trial and transactional lawyer representing both plaintiffs and defendants in state, federal and appellate courts. In 1981and 82, Laurie was a law intern for the Honorable Judge William M. Hoeveler, who was the number one rated United States District Court Judge for the Southern District of Florida.
