Biographical

INTRODUCTION:

Michael J. Schofield has 40 years experience in litigation in complex tort matters, products, liability, aviation, medical malpractice, insurance coverage and bad faith claims.  He began his career at Kimbrell & Hamann in Miami, Florida in 1983.  He returned to North Florida in 1989 and practices at one of Pensacola’s most prestigious firms, Clark, Partington. Mr. Schofield has represented both plaintiffs and defendants and has tried cases ranging from simple tort claims to aviation crash claims and currently litigates and mediates.

Mr. Schofield has written articles for Florida’s Trial Advocate Quarterly, Law Seminars, Inc., and other publications both in Alabama and Florida.  He has provided seminar speeches to various groups.  He served on numerous boards and committees, including the Florida Bar Committee on Aviation at its inception.  Mr. Schofield is a past or current member of ATLA, Florida Trial Lawyers Association, Alabama Trial Lawyers, DRI, International Association of Defense Counsel (invitation only), and other groups.  He obtained Martindale-Hubbell’s highest rating of AV, signifying excellence in his field and the highest of ethical standards.  Past clients included individuals, corporations, airlines, fixed-base operators (FBO’s), pilots, air crew members, construction companies, manufacturers, and sales and distribution companies.  

 Mr. Schofield is licensed to practice law in Florida and Alabama, and is also a Circuit Court Certified Mediator and an Alabama Mediator. He has been involved in mediating under the Florida Hurricane mediation program in residential and commercial matters and through the Florida State Department of Financial Services.

Mr. Schofield is a member in good standing in all courts in the State of Florida and State of Alabama, all Florida and Alabama Federal District Courts, and the Eleventh Circuit and Fifth Circuit US Courts of Appeal.         

Mr. Schofield attends arbitration training courses on a regular basis.  He is a Rostered Arbitrator in Alabama, under the auspices of the Alabama Dispute Resolution Center, and a Qualified Arbitrator in Florida.  He regularly attends the Dispute Resolution Center’s annual convention to continue his mediation and arbitration training and a current member of various professional mediation and alternative dispute organizations.  Mr. Schofield currently mediates, serves as arbitrator, and serves as umpire in appraisal claims while maintaining an active legal practice.

Rates Information
